July marks one year since the electoral victory of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) in Mexico. This election ended more than years of hegemonic power of the Party of the Institutional Revolution (PRI) and neoliberal governments, between the PRI and the National Action Party (PAN). In these six months of government, AMLO received a State with profound difficulties derived from neoliberalism: militarization, drug trafficking, unemployment and corruption, to name just a few.[] This legacy indicates that it will not be easy to reorient Mexico's course, while demonstrating the political decision of a sector of society to get out of the neoliberal swamp that sank the second largest country in Latin America.
